Almond milk is a very healthy drink, that, at least in my opinion, is even tastier than the regular milk. Many vegans and lactose intolerant people consume this drink. But, if you’re not in either category, you can just drink it anyway, or add it into some alcoholic or non-alcoholic cocktails.
It is true that it is quite more expensive than the regular milk – but here’s a way to make it on your own! plus, for the same price, you can enjoy almond milk AND fresh crunchy almonds – or make some cake or marzipan with the rest of the almonds!
You will need:
- 1 cup raw almonds
- a bowl of water to soak in the almonds
- 2 dates and a pinch of vanilla- but this is not a mandatory ingredient(optional)
- 3 cups of water
- A blender
How to prepare it?
First of all, put the almonds in a bowl with some water, enough to soak all of them. Let them stay overnight for better cream and extraction of more liquid and nutrients. In the morning, get rid of the water in the bowl, rinse them with fresh water. Then, add them with the other preferred ingredients in the blender and add 3 cups of 200 ml of water. Blend the mixture and if you’re not satisfied with the density – add more water or more nuts.
Store the milk in a glass sealed container and put in in the fridge. You can drink it for 5 days, as nuts last longer than dairy.
